Coming out the other side
2020 was a remarkably active year in the San Mateo County residential real estate market. Despite its challenges, people continued to purchase and sell homes.
Amid the many challenges from COVID-19 a new era of working and learning from home was ushered in and along with it the need for additional living space. The desire to be within closer proximity to outdoor recreational areas infused both the buyer and seller pools. Some homeowners moved out of state, while others downsized into a condo or gated communities. Many renters got off the fence and became homeowners, while others are still rethinking their living situations.
The buyer pool remains active and motivated by the low interest rate financing opportunities that continue to prevail. Our real estate marketplace remains vibrant as we hit the Summer of 2021.
